OUR WOODLAND SETTING

Shining Cliff Woods,

Jackass Lane,

Alderwasley

Belper

We are so fortunate to be able to hold our woods sessions in the beautiful ancient woodland of Shining Cliff Wood near Ambergate in Derbyshire. The woodland is owned and manged by the Grith Pioneers who kindly give us permission to use the woodland.

We aim to tread lightly and cause minimal impact to the woodland, alternating the sites we use within the woodland to help us leave no trace. We take everything we need into the woodland with us. This gives us great flexibility to follow the children's interests and also reduce our impact on the woodland.

HOW TO FIND OUR WOODS SITE

From the A6 in Ambergate, turn into Holly Lane between St Ann's Church and the Cricket ground. Follow this lane for 1.4 miles (past 2 farms) until you reach a cottage on your right and some farm buildings on your left.
Turn right along the side the cottage. There is a small white sign directing you to the right for "Shining Cliff".  Go through the gate and follow the track for 300m until you reach the parking area at the end of the track.
Parking is tight, please be mindful to get as many cars in as possible while keeping good access to all the tracks.
If you would prefer to walk there is a pull in in front of the cottage and you can walk along the track. Please leave an extra 10 minutes to allow for the walk in.

OUR MEADOW SITE

Alison's family kindly allow us access to their Meadow during winter months. This provides us with an alternative site to limit our impact on the woods and a different environment for our children to enjoy all the great outdoors has to offer.

Directions from our hall to the meadow can be found here
